About me

Hi, I am Jack.

I’m a 4th-year Data Science student at UC San Diego with a minor in Mathematics. My background is rooted in data analysis and modeling, but my interests and experience have expanded into software engineering and data engineering. I am interested in building the software and infrastructure for collecting, processing, and transforming complex data into actionable insights and solutions. I also like exploring data from various domains, with an interest in data automation, predictive modeling, and data visualization.

I am currently a Data Engineer Intern at Boundary Remote Subsurface Solutions, where I build data pipelines to automate geospatial data ingestion with AWS infrastructure. Before that, I was a Software Engineer Intern at Green Optic Films, where I developed a surgical video analysis software to support medical research. In addition, I serve as an Instructional Assistant at Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at UC San Diego for core Data Science courses (DSC 190, DSC 40B, DSC 80), helping students navigate key theoretical concepts and practical applications in data science and statistics.

I’m always eager to learn more about different industries. I’m actively seeking an internship and full-time opportunity in data science, data analytics, data engineering, software engineering, … to further develop my skills and contribute to impactful projects.

Thank you for visiting my site. Feel free to explore my projects.

Experience

Data Infrastructure Engineer Intern

Boundary Remote Subsurface Solutions | Los Angeles, CA | June 2025 – Present
  • Building ETL data pipelines in Python and SQL integrated with AWS Lambdas, API Gateway, and S3 to automate geospatial data ingestion
  • Engineering and deploying an automated dataset upload system, reducing engineering involvement by 70% and accelerating integration of new geospatial data sources
  • Integrating data validation and quality checks into existing data pipelines

Software Engineer Intern

Green Optic Films | San Diego, CA | March 2025 – September 2025
  • Developing a surgical video analysis software application in Python (PyQt) to support downstream analytics
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to redesign UI/UX and implement video player and data annotation system for surgical instruments tracking
  • Building a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions to automate development, testing, and packaging for production software distribution
  • Automating transformation of annotation data into structured formats (JSON) and building interactive dashboards in Tableau to visualize instrument usage trend

Instructional Assistant

Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at UC San Diego | La Jolla, CA | September 2024 – Present
  • Hosted weekly office hours, providing individual and group support to 100+ students for understanding data science course concepts (Statistics, Data Structure and Algorithm, Practice of Data Science)
  • Resolved 100+ technical questions on discussion forums (Piazza/Campuswire), reducing average response time to under 3 hours and streamlining student learning
  • Assisted with exam administration for online and in-person mode, including proctoring, grading, and ensuring academic integrity across multiple assessments
